To care for the mentally ill, especially those wo have no one to care for them by being a loving home where every life is valued, every heart is embraced and every person is accepted with dignity, compassion and love.

No one is left without a home especially the mentally ill. We envision a world where those who can be restored through proper medication, care and rehabilitation are never deprived of the opportunity to heal, belong and live with hope.
The Story of Santhwana began on an Onam day in 2006, when Fr. Alexander Kureekattil, a Claretian priest, was moved by the sight of an abandoned man by the roadside while others prepared to celebrate. He brought him to safety, cared for him, and restored his dignity—an act that became the beginning of a ministry for the mentally ill, the abandoned, and those left to wander the streets. The ministry first began at Monvila as part of Sadhana Renewal Centre and was officially inaugurated on 26 August 2006 by Bishop Soosa Pakiam. After 15 years of dedicated service, it moved to its permanent home in Puthenthope, where a new facility was inaugurated on 8 August 2021 and established as Santhwana Rehabilitation Centre. Today, Santhwana remains a loving home where the forgotten are welcomed, cared for, and restored with dignity and hope.
